Bargain Flights to Las Vegas

Jul 28, 2009 in All Bargain Flights To Articles

We once heard someone say: “You haven’t partied until you partied in Las Vegas” and we can clearly agree to that. For some Las Vegas is the city of lights where you can party 24/7, for others is the total opposite and name it “Sin City” and for many others it’s a destination where excess is the normality where you follow your instincts be it gambling in a casino calling upon Lady Luck or proposing and getting married in one of the many chapels in a last minute whirlwind of emotions. Whatever tickle your fancy the bottom line is no one can remain unaffected by this bright, loud, vibrant city.

Las Vegas at night

Often associated with mobsters and organised crime Las Vegas has always kept throughout the past 100 years an air of mystery like the look of a beautiful elegant woman across a smokey bar.

Of due interest the most celebrated of the early hotels was the Flamingo Hotel, built by mobster Benjamin “Bugsy” Siegel, a member of the Meyer Lansky crime organization. The hotel displayed a big pink neon sign and replicas of pink flamingos on the lawn, opened in 1946. It was modelled after similar hotels in Miami, Florida. Unfortunately early resorts plentiful of historic drama and mystery no longer exists as they have been remodelled and adapted to 21st century lifestyle but one this is sure Las Vegas will be able to accommodate every one’s taste for fun and entertainment.

So how do we get there? Well we are please to say that VIRGIN ATLANTIC is the most experience airline to take you to the world’s capital of entertainment. Bargain Flights to Tokyo

Jul 06, 2009 in All Bargain Flights To Articles

Now, this is one of our favourite destinations of all times.  Think future meets tradition, Japan is a land of many contrasts, from the bright lights of Akihabara, to the peaceful silent of the Nanzen-ji Zen temple, to Okinawan pottery, every corner of Japan is filled with magic wisdom, exciting curiosity, tradition and all works in a meticulous way, even the traffic.

Nanzen-ji zen temple in Kyoto

Tokyo is a city that deserves your utter dedication for at least 4-5 days at the very least. There are a thousand and 1 things to do and see and although we cannot list them all in here, we will try advising you on the best things, the ones not to be missed, because after all Tokyo is a whole 12 hours (direct flight) from London so it probably will be a while before you return, so try and plan your visit ahead so that you can pack in as much as possible.

Akihabra district

Akihabra district, Tokyo

Right now, VIRGIN ATLANTIC has a sale on offering bargain flights to Tokyo for as little as £450, and for those like us who travel a lot, you’ll know this is a bargain indeed. Generally a direct return flight to Tokyo is never below the £600 so make sure you grab yourselves a bargain with this unbelievable offer!

If you are travelling outside of Tokyo and using the Shinkansen Bullet train make sure that you do your train pass before you enter Japan, as this is cheaper. Train passes can be obtained via travel agents or directly via the Japan Travel Centre in London. Hiring a car is expensive in Japan, so public transport is the best method if you wish to travel from Tokyo to other cities such as Kyoto, Osaka etc. Make sure you date it from the day you REALLY need it and not from when you arrive otherwise is a waste of money. Tokyo has several metro networks which are privatised so your Rail pass will only work on the JR Yamanote line, which is why we are advising you not to date your rail pass from when you arrive.  There are different travel cards like the Tokyo Free Kippu which is good for one day of travel on subways, JR trains, and buses. The price is 1,580 yen and includes Odaiba and Rappongi, the two best “party at night’ districts in Tokyo where the JR doesn’t go.

The Tokyo Metro Pass is an open ticket that costs 710 yen and is good for one day of travel on Tokyo Metro subways.
If you are a foreigner arriving  via Narita International Airport, the Tokyo Metro One-Day Tourist Ticket provides the same service and costs only 600 yen.  Alternatively a Tokyo Metro Two-Day Open Ticket is valid for two days and costs 980 yen. These two tickets are only sold at Narita Airport.

Ok so we got you moving…great! You need to find a place to stay, ‘Bargain Flights to’ advise you to stay in the Hamamatsucho and Shinagawa area for many reasons; firstly if you are watching your purse, these two areas are much cheaper than other more notouriosly touristy areas. Yet, they are a stone throw from many attractions like the Tokyo Tower the Fish Market, within in 10-15 minutes you are in Rappongi ready to party like a rockstar!

A hotel we can highly recommend in Hamamatsucho is the Villa Fontaine, but don’t be fooled by the French name, there is nothing French about this hotel. Cosy, extremely clean, and welcoming this hotel will offer all the basic comforts at a very sensible price for Tokyo. The breakfast in the morning is not bad either.  The Prince Hotel outside Shinagawa station is also a place we recommend. If you are lucky to stay in any of the rooms from the 20th floor and above you will have breathtaking views of Tokyo at night. The hotel has many amenities including an aquarium, a cinema, bowling lanes, golf and tennis courts etc. and only £109 per night (RO) for a double room or £135 including breakfast. A 5* treatment for 3* prices!

We mentioned earlier attractions like the Fish Market part of the Tsukiji Market which is the Tokyo wholesale market is a great experience if you like fish as it is the world’s biggest fish market. Make sure you are there early in the morning around 4.30 - 5.00 is the best time to experience the fish bidding and if you fancy sushi for breakfast a bit later local sushi bar open where you can eat many delicacies.

If you travel to Japan chance is that like us you are a big fan of Anime films so one attraction you will need to book well in advance, and by in advance we really mean as early as when you book your flight are tickets for the STUDIO GHIBLI Museum. These are always sold out weeks in advance so take no chances. Entrance to the Ghibli Museum is strictly by advance purchase of a reserved ticket which specifies the appointed date of the reservation.

Like we said there are one thousand and one things to tell about Tokyo, we cannot list them all at once but what we can say is Tokyo is a wonder city and doesn’t matter how many times you will visit there is always something new for you to see.
Whatever you do make sure as listed above that you take up the amazing offer VIRGIN ATLANTIC has to offer and don’t forget to travel safe, by covering all that’s due with one of the best online travel insurances FLEXI COVER offering travel insurance for you and your family at the best prices.
