San Sebastian

Tuesday, May 6th, 2008 @ 8:34 pm | San Sebastian

This Spanish city is so alive and vibrate, with their friendly locals and fantastic architecture and culture. It is the party town of Spain. Loved by many Australians and travellers alike, it really is bursting with things to do and see.
Ebookers are doing bargain deals on flights to San Sebastian from £270 flying with Iberia.  For a beautiful three star hotel, the Barcelo Costa Vasca is truly fabulous.  For a three nights stay in this gorgeous hotel, prices start from £290 including your flight. It is set in a peaceful residential area, metres from the beach that shares the same name.  However, if you are not scared you of splashing some cash then the Hotel Maria Cristina is amazing. The hotel is four stars but is complete class. It is set in the heart of San Sebastian situated between the beaches La Concha and La Zurriola. The grounds are surrounded by beautiful gardens that will heighten the feel of your entire stay here.
San Sebastian really is a great summer city to explore and stretch your legs for.
The Basílica de Santa María del Coro is a fantastic sight and must be seen. The Church was built that has been a religious sit for many years. Lucky the structure was untouched during the war and the entrance is still the main attraction to this wonderful Church. For a great Museum, the Museo Chillida Leku is a great dedication to the Artist and Native of Eduardo Chillida. The Sculptor’s work spans the 20th Century with open space monuments that really capture the pieces. It is best to get the Calle Oquendo bus from San Sebastian, which takes only half an hour.
For a great Restaurant, The Akelarre is ideal. Situated on the Igeldo, it has some amazing countryside and sea views to bring that extra magic to your Spanish meal.
If you want an evening with more then a bar called Hollywood is a place with some difference.  The décor is set up like an old Western Salon with Classic movie stars, paved all over the walls. Entry is roughly 7 Euros and food is also available if you fancy something to nibble.
Just walking around the old city at night will get you into the spirit of the city and seeing all the bars and vibrate characters will certainly get you in the mood for a good night out.
San Sebastian does have many amazing beaches to explore and lay upon. The Family atmosphere is very relaxing and having a read of your favorite book on the beach will get you into the holiday mood. This City is a cultural experience and will be very different to anywhere you have traveled before.  It is defiantly a holiday destination that you will want to visit again and again.
